School Excursion to Hauck Heat Treatment Letchworth

14 Apr, 2017

Recently students of the Diderot High School in France visited our Letchworth plant in the UK. Please read below what they have to say:

“On February 3rd 2017 we visited the Letchworth site in the north of London. Hauck Heat Treatment is a metallurgical company specialized in the heat treatment of materials. Garry Hawkins gave us a general overview of the group in the world and more particularly in Europe. We were told about the many sites the company have and the profile of their customers.

After that we carried on with a tour around the facilities. We were introduced to a range of thermochemical treatments like atmosphere processes (carburising, nitrocarburising and hardening), vacuum processes, gas nitriding, salt bath treatments and Hot Isostatic Pressing. We were very much impressed by the low-pressure furnaces and the hipping room. It was also very interesting to learn about the quality control processes and the compliance to European and American standards.

The visit was a memorable experience for us! The highlight of our 3-day school trip to London! We could ask a lot of questions to Garry and Stewart and thus further our knowledge in heat treatment processes. We understood better the theory we are studying in class and learned new technical terms.

Thank YOU for your warm welcome and taking the time to show us your site which is of great interest to us because it is in keeping with we are studying at university. We hope to see you again one day and wish you all the best. Thank you again!”
